Lucille Pepoon Tree, Independence ParkMs. Pepoon was a nurse who lost her life in WWI. A historic photo in the field house shows a cannon in the park (not there in 2019). In 2019, there is a boulder that once had a plaque on it.

Macomb WWI Memorial Honor Roll Knox College WWI MemorialA monument dedicated to the 17 men who lost their lives in service to their country from Knox College in Galesburg, IL. On June 9, 1919, two bronze plaques and a flag staff on a granite pedestal were dedicated to the men of Knox College. At the bottom of the plaque is a quotation from Shakespeare, ” He lives in fame that died in virtue’s cause.” The service flag of Knox in WWI was given by the Rebecca Park Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The flag has three numbers, 660 means number in service, 27 in YMCA work and 8 in the Red Cross, all from Knox College.
