A monument dedicated to the 17 men who lost their lives in service to their country from Knox College in Galesburg, IL. On June 9, 1919, two bronze plaques and a flag staff on a granite pedestal were dedicated to the men of Knox College. At the bottom of the plaque is a quotation from Shakespeare, ” He lives in fame that died in virtue’s cause.” The service flag of Knox in WWI was given by the Rebecca Park Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The flag has three numbers, 660 means number in service, 27 in YMCA work and 8 in the Red Cross, all from Knox College.
