The memorial was designed and fabricated by Vernon T. Johnson of Stonecraft Industries with architectural assistance from Joseph R. Bednarik. Erected byÊBNCAÊin observance of its 75th anniversary, it honors those who served in World Wars I and II and was dedicated on August 21, 1952. The sandstone memorial has a 40 foot aluminum flagpole on an octagonal base. Each side of the base has an illustration of a major point in each of the wars. The frieze depicts the Four Freedoms. The monument has a 44 foot aluminum flagpole on octagonal cement base. Each side of the base has an illustration of a major point in each of the wars. The frieze depicts the Four Freedoms. Kane County Soldiers and Sailors MemorialThis monument is dedicated to Kane County residents who participated in all wars. The original monument was for the Civil War participants. The World War I parts of the monument are two WWI naval guns mounted on each side of the monument. The guns are 4.7 inch naval guns one from the U.S.S. New Orleans and the other from the U.S.S. Albany. The WWI portion of the monument was dedicated April 1, 1925. see

WWI War MemorialThe Women’s Service League started during the war had money left over at war’s end and proposed this monument for all who served from Ransom and surrounding Allen Township. One interesting fact about it was that the women were adamant that it was NOT a Memorial. It has always been called “the monument” since that was what they intended: a monument to those who served in the last war in history. They truly believed it was the war to end all wars.

WWI Arch, WilliamsvilleNot original. The original memorial (arch and 75 mm howwitzer cannon) were disassembled in 1942 and scrapped for the World War II metal drive. This replica was built in 1993 to closely resemble the original 1919 arch.
Livingston Co. WWI MemorialThe memorial is a granite monument with a bronze cenotaph plaque listing the names of Livingston County residents who gave their lives in World War I. Inscription of plaque reads: “1917 1919 In Memory of the Soldiers, Sailors, and Nurses of Livingston County Who Made The Supreme Sacrifice During the World War.”
