CHICAGO, IL – Landmarks Illinois will honor nine exceptional historic preservation projects at the Landmarks Illinois 2017 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Awards Celebration. Taking place on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Venue SIX10 in Chicago, the award ceremony will pay tribute to inspiring individuals and organizations that put forth extraordinary effort to elevate historic preservation practice and advocacy in Illinois.
“Our 2017 award recipients demonstrate dedication, creativity and passion for preserving places that are special to the local community and to our state’s cultural heritage,” said Bonnie McDonald, President & CEO of Landmarks Illinois. “The people who made these projects a reality deserved to be recognized and modeled for their efforts in ensuring future generations can enjoy and experience Illinois’ historic places.”

- Aurora St. Charles Senior Living, Aurora: Award for Rehabilitation
- Charles Staples, Chicago: Joe Antunovich Award for Leadership
- Cooperage 214, Peoria: Award for Adaptive Use
- District 2 Police Station, Rockford: President’s Award for Adaptive Use
- Friends of the Edwards House, Downers Grove: Project of the Year Award for Advocacy
- Joliet Central High School Student Center Addition, Joliet: Award for Rehabilitation
- Rosenwald Courts, Chicago: Award for Rehabilitation
- Unity Temple, Oak Park: Award for Restoration
About the Awards
Landmarks Illinois’ annual awards program began in 1994 and is generously funded by the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. The 2017 awards ceremony at Venue SIX10, 610 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago, is open to the public. The full event schedule follows:
- 5 – 6 p.m.: Award Winner Panel Discussion
- 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.: Awards Ceremony, Cocktails and Hors D’oeuvres Reception
