Included as an object in the Stolp Island Historic District listed in the National Register. The bridge was designed as a memorial for World War I veterans and dedicated in 1930-1931. At each end of the bridge is a concrete statue titled “Memory.” A bronze “Victory” statue is located on the north side. On the south side is a plaque flanked by two eagle statuettes. “The bridge features six ornamental elements, four hooded Memory sculptures, a statue celebrating Victory, and the Branches of Service Plaque, a large bronze relief representing the three branches of the armed services at the time of WWI. At the center of the bridge there are two outlooks with bronze and limestone memorials. On the north side stands a 12 foot bronze statue of the Messenger Goddess Victory on top of a 10 foot limestone base. Aurora will use the LI grant funding to restore the Victory statue.”

Veterans Memorial + Field Gun Belleau Wood

Dedicated to the Marines that fought at Belleau Woods, France. It was a big battle where the Germans gave them the nickname “Devil Dogs” that has stuck to this day (name was given because the Marines were not only fierce fighters, but unbelievably good shots from such long distances something they maintain to this day). There is a big stone marked and USMC flags at the SE corner of Rand Rd and Ballard in Des Plaines.

Flora WWI Memorial

Mounted on the corner of the Legion Hall, small howitzer displayed in front.

Alpha Delta Phi WWI Memorial (not located)

It is a memorial to the 93 Alpha Delta Phi fraternity members who died in WWI, and shows a wounded American and Canadian officer assisting one another off of the battlefield. Fraternity no longer in possession of sculpture “Brothers in Arms”. Several examples are for sale online in 2019.
