Save Piety Hill is a coalition of Rockford residents, volunteers and advocates who have been fighting for the protection of Rockford Diocese-owned historic properties in the Piety Hill section of the Signal Hill neighborhood. Landmarks Illinois included certain Piety Hill properties (the St. Peter School pictured) on its 2019 Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois. The grant supports the services of a professional architectural historian to research and assess the eligibility for creating a historic district in the Signal Hill neighborhood of Rockford as well as for other potential historic properties in Rockford.
