Chicago Modern: More Than Mies

The Chicago Modern: More than Mies series was a great success. From February through May (national preservation month), the Save Prentice Coalition sponsored four lectures and two panel discussions on the importance of Bertrand Goldberg’s Prentice Hospital and preserving Modern architecture, provided a tour of a privately owned Bertrand Goldberg-designed house and hosted a fun party filled with vintage food and fashion to kick off the new season of Mad Men. Members of the Save Prentice Coalition include AIA Chicago, DoCoMoMo-US, Landmarks Illinois, National Trust for Historic Preservation and Preservation Chicago.

We thank everyone who attended these events, which included several hundred people. Through this series, we hope our Coalition successfully demonstrated the importance of Chicago architecture and design of the 1960s and 70s and the need to address its preservation. Please join our effort to save Goldberg’s Prentice: SavePrentice.org and sign the “Save Prentice” petition.
