PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR

State Sens. Pamela Althoff and Steve Stadelman and State Reps. Steven Andersson and Jehan Gordon-Booth

McHenry, Rockford, Geneva, Peoria

Illinois State Sen. Pamela Althoff (R-McHenry) and Steve Stadelman (D-Rockford) and State Reps. Steven Andersson (R-Geneva) and Jehan Gordon-Booth (D-Peoria) are the joint recipients of the 2018 Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award for Legislator of the Year, as well as the President’s Choice Award. All four of these lawmakers have been champions of historic preservation and instrumental in helping to enact preservation legislation in the State of Illinois, most recently the new State Historic Tax Credit overwhelmingly approved by the legislature on May 31st. Govenor Bruce Rauner signed the legislation into law on July 27, 2018, expanding the existing River Edge Redevelopment Zone and creating a statewide historic preservation tax credit for Illinois – a major accomplishment for the state and preservation community!

Both Senator Althoff and Representative Andersson are co-chairs of the Illinois Historic Preservation Legislative Caucus and will be retiring in January 2019 at the end of their current terms.
