“Little Cheyenne”
Preservation and Pubs
April 29, 2011
City of Chicago cultural historian Tim Samuelson gave tour attendees a
colorful glimpse of life in “Little Cheyenne”, once a rowdy corner of
the Loop. From the 1930s-era Sky Ride Tap (105 W. Van Buren St.), named
after an attraction at the 1933-34 Century of Progress exposition, to
turn-of-the-century Ald. Michael “Hinky Dink” Kenna’s 24-hour saloon
(428 S. Clark St.), Samuelson told long-forgotten tales of the area’s
people and buildings.
