On April 7, 2006 by a vote of 55-0, the Illinois Senate passed a resolution
calling for the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, in consultation
with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Illinois Department of
Agriculture, to determine the needs of historic barn preservation efforts, their
potential impact on tourism and economic development in rural communities, and
programs and incentives in other states.
The resolution was introduced by Ill. Sen. Deanna Demuzio, co-chair of the
Illinois Historic Preservation Legislative Caucus. LPCI will work with Ill. Sen.
Demuzio and the respective state agencies on this effort.
