Streator High School, Streator                                                   RETURN

The LaSalle County Circuit Court in September dismissed a lawsuit brought by LPCI and the National Trust for Historic Preservation to stop the partial demolition of this 1923 high school building. The judge contended that the two groups lacked sufficient “standing” to file the lawsuit. A half dozen local preservationists, who had joined the lawsuit as co-plaintiffs, withdrew following alleged harassment by other residents and officials. A majority of the historic high school, which was on LPCI’s “Ten Most” list in 2003, is scheduled to be replaced by a new building.
