The
Community Restoration and Revitalization Act
The Community
Restoration and Revitalization Act (introduced in 2005
as H.R. 3159 and in 2007 as H.R. 1043 / S. 584) was
re-introduced on October 1st.
Representatives Allyson Schwartz (D-PA) and Patrick Tiberi (R-OH) and Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and
Olympia Snowe (R-ME) are the House and
Senate sponsors. The new bill numbers are H.R. 3715 and
S. 1743.
The Community
Restoration and Revitalization Act is intended to make
several needed improvements to the Federal
Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program. These amendments are
intended to deepen the program’s effectiveness for
community revitalization, smaller commercial main street
projects and affordable housing, while retaining its
focus on protecting historic buildings.
Below is a
list of legislators in Illinois who signed-on as
co-sponsors in 2007. If any of these legislators represent your
district, please thank them for their previous support
and encourage them to support the bill again. If your
representative did not sign on, please tell them how
important it will be for your community.
While most of
the amendments proposed in 2007 remain in the new
bill, there are additional amendments that
propose tax credits for making historic buildings
energy-efficient and easier tax credit transferability
for small deals.
Please
continue to check this page for updates on this important bill.
