World's Largest Catsup Bottle

Originally constructed in 1949 to serve the processing plant for the Brooks Tomato Products Company, the water tower is 70 feet tall atop a 100’ tall support structure. Brooks ceased operations in 1963 and tower went out of use. The “bottle” first drew national attention when it was included in the 1992 travel guide, The New Roadside America. In 1993, Collinsville citizens formed the Catsup Bottle Preservation Group and began fundraising efforts. Designated a local landmark in 2000 and listed on the National Register in 2002, the bottle has been featured in many publications. The group maintains an active online site, sells themed merchandise and organizes the annual World’s Largest Catsup Bottle Festival, all the while disseminating information and causing a surge of tourism in the area.
